Short History

The past few centuries have witnessed the ups & downs of the historic Hoi An. The city  has a legacy of cultural influence from various historical periods . During the period of 16th to 18th century, it flourished as an international trade port . Going further back in time , during the Champa period, it was a base for ocean silk route , & before the Champa period it was a thriving point for late Sa Huynh culture .  The 16th & 17th centuries marks the highest point of development of Hoi An. At this period, Hoi An was an international commercial port of Central Vietnam. Traders from Japan, China, India, Holland .... came to Hoian for their business in great number.

Hoi An is located along the coast of Quang Nam Province, 35 Km from Danang International Airport.

Hoi An Ancient Town is regarded as a living museum of ancient architecture presented by old houses, Chinese Assembly halls, temples .. etc. Hoi An was listed as the World Cultural Heritage by UNESCO on December 4th , 1999.
