HOIAN LEGENDARY NIGHT

A really unique and enchanting festival in historic Hoian, celebrated on every 14 th of Lunar months. From 7:00 pm, the whole Ancient city is lit by various kinds of multi-colored lanterns ; neon & electric lights being turned off; vehicle of all kinds banned; streets reserved for walkers only. Visitors to this festival have a best chance to freely & comfortably walk in the Ancient area enjoying traditional musical performance, traditional Vietnamese Opera, traditional games... The scene recalls the ordinary life of local people in 19^th century - the time of revelry, peace, poetry & beauty.

MID - AUTUMN FESTIVAL

Celebrated on 14 & 15 August Lunar Calendar, Mid-Autumn Festival is one of the most important festivals in

Vietnam

. The festival is a time for people to show their appreciation to Mr Moon & to enjoy the Moon-cakes. During the festival, children beat drums & join in the lion dance or unicorn dance.

NGUYEN TIEU FESTIVAL

Held annually at on 16^th January Lunar Calendar at Chaozhou Assembly Hall & Quang Trieu Pagoda. This is the first celebration of the year of the Chinese Community in Hoian. In addition to worshipping rituals, dragon dance & lottery are part of the festival.

GODDESS OF THE SEA’S CEREMONY

Held yearly on 23^rd March, Lunar Calendar at Fujian Assembly Hall & the Chinese All - Community Assembly Hall, This is the ceremony to worship Lady Thien Hau - Goddess of the Sea, who is believed to be a lifesaver of the boats in accident in the sea.

CAU BONG FESTIVAL

Held annually on a fine Spring day on Hoian River near Cua Dai Beach, the main purposes of the festival are to welcome the New Year & to pray for bumper crops, peace , & prosperity.

LONG CHU FESTIVAL

Held every year on 15^th July Lunar Calendar, usually at temples or Communal Houses by inhabitants in some fishing villages of Hoian. The purpose of the festival is to drive away epidemics at a time when a new season is coming.
