Festivals
HOIAN LEGENDARY NIGHT 

A really unique and enchanting festival in historic Hoian, celebrated on every 14 th of Lunar months. From 7:00 pm, the whole Ancient city is lit by various kinds of multi-colored lanterns ; neon & electric lights being turned off; vehicle of all kinds banned; streets reserved for walkers only. Visitors to this festival have a best chance to freely & comfortably walk in the Ancient area enjoying traditional musical performance, traditional Vietnamese Opera, traditional games... The scene recalls the ordinary life of local people in  19th  century - the time of revelry, peace, poetry & beauty.

MID - AUTUMN FESTIVAL
Celebrated on 14 & 15 August Lunar Calendar, Mid-Autumn Festival is one of the most important festivals in Vietnam. The festival is a time for people to show their appreciation to Mr Moon & to enjoy the Moon-cakes. During the festival, children beat drums & join in the lion dance or unicorn dance.

NGUYEN TIEU FESTIVAL
Held annually at on 16th January Lunar Calendar at Chaozhou Assembly Hall & Quang Trieu Pagoda. This is the first celebration of the year of the Chinese Community in Hoian. In addition to worshipping rituals, dragon dance & lottery are part of the festival.

 

GODDESS OF THE SEA’S CEREMONY
Held yearly on 23rd March, Lunar Calendar at Fujian Assembly Hall & the Chinese All - Community  Assembly Hall, This is the ceremony to worship Lady Thien Hau - Goddess  of the Sea, who is believed to be a lifesaver of the boats in accident in the sea.

CAU BONG FESTIVAL
Held annually on a fine Spring day on Hoian River near Cua Dai Beach, the main purposes of the festival are to welcome the New Year & to pray for bumper crops, peace , & prosperity.

LONG CHU FESTIVAL
Held every year on 15th July Lunar Calendar, usually at temples or Communal Houses by inhabitants in some fishing villages of Hoian. The purpose of the festival is to drive away epidemics at a time when a new season is coming.
